Ralph Lauren white chinos

So here are some white skinny casual chinos that I bought.  In fact I bought two pairs, one white and one red.

Here are the white:

I bought these chinos because, as I mentioned in a previous article, I wanted to make up the look that men are wearing in Milan.  The look is a dark or mid-blue fitted jacket, a pale blue shirt, plain or striped, a natural look belt, skinny white trousers, dark or mid-blue loafers or moccasins.  To make it perfect, you add a breast-pocket handkerchief, or silk square, white with blue dots for preference.

I bought the chinos from Ralph Lauren.  I buy a lot of my casual trousers from Ralph Lauren, for two reasons.

The first is that Ralph Lauren have a lot of their casual trousers made by Incotex, who fro my money are currently the best ready-to-wear trouser maker in Europe.  Their proportions and finishing are really good.  I asked the Ralph Lauren sales assistant if the chinos were made by Incotex and she said they were.

This shot shows the finishing on the waist (Red Pair):

The second is that my body/style type is Classic, which means I look superb in any kind of suit or classic clothing, but struggle to look good in casual wear.  My friend Tim is the exact opposite, a full Natural body/style type.  So anything natural, big wool sweaters, heavy jeans and Tim looks manly and stylish.  Just don’t put him in a suit.

So for me chinos and jeans have to be as tailored and the cotton/denim has to be as finely woven as possible (this is a crap sentence but you know what I mean).  Ralph Lauren’s casual wear has a grace and elegance that really suit me.  The chinos were a perfect fit, so I tried the red (Coral, if you are buying online).  They looked so good that I bought them too.

Here is a long shot (Red Pair):

The chinos cost £155.00 a pair, which was an ok price for me.  Boggi have a similar chino (though I think they sell them as a jean) priced at £90.00.  Regular readers will know I am a big fan of Boggi, they are an inventive and stylish Italian brand and they keep their prices very competitive.

Here is the waist detail on the white:

For those of you who want a more formal white chino, the type that you can iron a crease into, Ralph Lauren has those too.

These look good on me, they might look good on you.  Recommended.
