The man PB is an awesome actor…his pre bond films are brilliant too….one movie that caught my attention was Murder 101…he plays a crime writer who is almost outwitted by a student of his…some superb histrionics …a must watch !!

Hi Chyna,

Thanks for the catch. I have updated the photograph and the Sean Connery spelling. I think some of PB’s pre-Bond work is really good. I especially like Heist (early caper movie with Tom Skerrit) and Death Train. if you have seen Death Train you will no doubt recognise the origins of PB’s Bond in the cocksure Mike Graham character. PB is an amazingly productive actor and there is definitely material for a pre-Bond PB article.

Thank you John for this piece. I’d always considered Pierce a competent actor and a revitalised Bond, but being hooked on his image as 007 I never fully considered his other roles.

I was delighted when I recently came across The Matador. I share totally your enthusiasm for this movie. I reveled in the relish and wit with which Brosnan reveals his “incredible monster” of a character. And as you say, he soared in my admiration for “inhabiting this unflattering role to its fullest extent.”

Thanks to your piece I’ll be looking out for his other non-Bond movies as a priority.
