Around 1955 to 1968 a brand of shoe was very popular in the U.S. The shoe company was Bannister. They sold shoes labeled half-moon, cap toes and others. Is this company still manufacturing shoes in England and if so, how can I contact them. Any info would be appreciated

Good to hear a different opinion. I think the designs are not so much old as they are traditional. There is real power in traditional style and good taste. These shoes reflect values (and virtues) to which many men adhere, and they do that with a great deal of beauty and designed utility. Good luck with your own designs. JVR

these are just old designs running from past several years. there is nothing extraordinary thing in these shoes, these are running just because of its brand name.the new is what when someone is impressed by seeing the shoe - new designs ,,new cuts,,more comfort,,with high quality as i am the exporter of shoe but i can say my designs are good enough to make customer tempted..

on reflection, one has to modify one's comment.the key ,especially in these troubled times is "value for money".go for good quality hide, good year welt, and choose what ever brand gives you the most comfortable fit.the more you know about leather and shoes contruction, the better your choice.in my opinion, the british shoemakers are still the best.just an opinion!!

Outstanding article - however despite owning several pairs of Loakes - which I adore, my favourite has to be Trickers for sheer presence and stability.
I am a Lawyer, which ticks the professional box but live in rural Shropshire hence the country aspect and I feel on balance Trickers fulfill all the options.
Undoubtedly the old adage still applies - spend wisely and well on your bed and your shoes since you spend most of your time in both!!!!
